Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Where are my workouts stored?

A. Your HIIT Workout Builder data is stored on your device:

   1. The data stays on your device and remains as long as you don't delete the app

   2. If you backup your device to iCloud, your data will also be backed up to iCloud

It is highly recommended that you automatically backup your device data to iCloud. This can be accomplished in settings

Q. What happens to my workout data if I get a new iPhone or iPad?

A. As long as you backup to iCloud and Restore from Backup, all of your workouts will be available on your new device

Q. How do I create a ladder workout?

A. The best way to accomplish this is to create an Untimed circuit.  The first "exercise" in the circuit will actually be the instructions (not an exercise) for the ladder.  Here's a screenshot from Example 12:

In the example, there are three exercises. Do 20 reps of all 3 exercises for the first set, 18 reps of each for the 2nd set and so on.

Q. Sometimes when I'm editing a workout the white "+" to add an exercise is grayed out and not available, why?

A. In order to add an exercise, a Circuit must be selected. Tap on the circuit to which you'd like to add the exercise (it will become highlighted) and the plus will become available.

Q. What does the Next> button do when I'm running a workout?

A. Tapping this button will skip you ahead to the next circuit (it'll be red) or exercise (it'll be white) or Rest (it'll be gray) depending on the circuit type. This can't be undone. You don't have to use the Next> button, you can also skip ahead to any circuit, exercise or rest by tapping a row that begins with "Next>:"

Q. How do I pause my workout?

A. You can actually toggle between running and paused in two separate ways: either by tapping the Run/Pause button or by tapping the exercise (white) timer. When paused, the exercise timer and the current exercise will have a gray background.

Q. What are Abbreviations?

A. When running a workout, the app will annunciate each exercise using text to speech. Abbreviations allow you to create exercises with shortened names but still hear the full name annunciated during your workout. For example, putting 'db' in your exercise name will be annunciated 'dumbbell'. Tap the 'Abbr' button on the workout editing screen to see all of the shortcuts.

Q. Why are some exercises displayed in red?

A. If the Circuit Type is set to 'Varied', the exercises in that circuit must be entered using the following format:

- SS/MM sec/min exercise_name, for example '30 sec pushups'/'1 min jump squats'

If the format is not followed, the exercise will be highlighted in red and you will not be able to run the workout.

Q. What is a 'Varied' Circuit Type?

A. This allows you to create a circuit where each exercise in the circuit has a different duration.  Each exercise in the circuit must adhere to the following format:

- SS/MM sec/min exercise_name, for example '30 sec pushups'/'1 min jump squats'

Here's a screenshot from Example 1:

In the example the exercise timer will run for 60 seconds for your jog, 30 seconds for your inchworms and so on.  The option to change the duration of the circuit is not available for this Circuit Type as it is calculated based on the duration of each exercise and the number of sets.

Q. Can I play music during my workout?

A. Yes, start playing music as you normally would before beginning your workout, it will continue to play as usual.
